Another day, another trip to Stratford, another Black-headed Gull. Though this image isn’t really about the gull, so much as the water. By now I feel as if I should be able to predict when the long lens will do this feathery thing with the water that looks like an in-camera “painterly” effect, but I can’t – it must be to do with how much disturbance there is to the surface, I suppose, but of all the shots I took on or over the Bancroft Basin within the space of a few minutes this afternoon, this was the only one with interesting water.
