Busy

Two of R’s oldest friends came down from Northumberland today for a short visit, and through the morning I was as busy as this female Plumpie, helping R to make the house look at least semi-presentable. Not that P and H were coming to judge the quality of the carpets, of course, or critique our dusting, but even I have minimal some standards. All this domesticity meant that I didn’t have much time for bug-bothering, and the brief bee hunt I did manage wasn’t helped by cold and windy conditions that kept most of my potential victims in their roosts. Still – you only need one, and this is her. Thank you, Mrs Plump.

It was lovely to see P and H, with whom we last spent time during a week’s holiday R and I took in the Frozen North in the autumn of 2019. SIX AND A HALF YEARS??? How can that possibly be right? Sadly though, it is. Normal activity ground to a halt during the pandemic, of course, and in our case was slow to get going again afterwards, and then other stuff landed on us and knocked us back again – but at least it feels now as though we’re properly engaging with the world again. Today was a good day.
