I suggested to R that I might send this photo to the parish newsletter, in case they wanted to put it on their cover – but this is asparagus country, and advertising the whereabouts of asparagus beetles is more likely to result in someone turning up on your doorstep with a flame thrower than it is to get you positive feedback. So maybe I’ll keep it to myself. This is a shame really, because while it isn’t the tidiest image I’ve ever created the photo was really quite hard to capture, given that the light this afternoon was Stygian, it was blowing a minor gale, wild asparagus grows in a frondy cloud about two metres tall by one across, and asparagus beetles are only 6mm long. Please excuse me for a moment, while I follow the example of the Baby Brother and give myself a quick round of applause.
