Shelter

The weather surprised me today, which only goes to show that I’m not as cynical as I think I am: after weeks and weeks of depression-inducing rain, all it’s taken to make me forget that this is what life’s like now are the four fine days we’ve just enjoyed, and I was severely put out when I opened the curtains this morning to lowering cloud and drizzle. It still wasn’t cold though, which at least meant that I didn’t have to worry about having started the spring garden tidy too early.

R had to go to Stratford at lunch time, and as gardening was now on temporary hold I decided to tag along, in the hope that he’d buy me cake. Which I’m happy to report that he did – and I’d earned it too, because he’d dropped me out in Shottery en route to the recycling centre at Bishopton, and I’d walked into town from there. Things were very quiet, bird-wise, both in the churchyard and along the river, but I was pleased to spot this little Robin in one of the Holy Trinity yew trees.
