I took this photo from Bidford Bridge late this afternoon, while out running an errand in the midst of a very full day.
This morning R and I went to the funeral of a young man who was the son of neighbours of ours, and who died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of 27. Following a very moving humanist celebration of his life, including eulogies from two of his siblings, he was buried in a lovely natural burial ground, in the presence of probably two hundred people. I’ve never been to a funeral quite like it before, and I’m full of admiration for the way the family chose to say goodbye to him – and I hope very much that it helped them a little in their grief.
This evening I went over to Chipping Campden for the penultimate rehearsal for our concert tomorrow evening; singing Mozart’s Requiem was especially poignant today.
