Recalling what a good time we had yesterday kept R and me going through today’s almost inevitable physical backlash – in my case, my knees whining almost constantly How many steps?? Are you mad???, and my back harmonising from time to time with a reminder of exactly how much it hadn’t enjoyed four hours on Chiltern Railways’ weirdly-constructed seats.
Because it didn’t seem like a good idea to let stiffness set in, we went off to Stratford and did some walking there, but there were hardly any birds to be seen either in the churchyard or along the river, so I came home with very few photos. By the time we got back it was overcast, the light was fading, and the bees were disappearing off to roost, so I was lucky to spot this Plumpie having a bedtime snack from the grape hyacinths – and luckier still that he let me get close with the macro.
