The Offspring came to see us today, and while we were waiting for them to arrive R and I blitzed the rest of the Christmas decorating. I had a bit of a panic mid-afternoon when I remembered that I hadn’t yet taken a photo, because by then I had neither much time nor much light, but as usually happens at about this time in the season, Christmas tree bokeh came to my rescue. The little painted metal Santa figure, only about two inches high, is one of those cheap, silly things we’ve collected along the way whose origins are long forgotten but which has somehow found its way into the family Christmas traditions – but I have to say that I’d never realised before seeing its photo on a large screen how absolutely filthy it is. Before next seeing a camera, Santa will have his nose blown and his face washed.
As ever, we had a lovely time with L and H, and were sad to see them leave after dinner – though we’ll hardly have time to miss them properly before they’re back again for Christmas.
