Early crocuses

After breakfast, during which the Boy Wonder out-did both of his grandparents in the number of freshly-cooked croissants he managed to demolish, the menfolk went into the garden to play on the swing. Having tidied the kitchen, I went to join them and take some photos of the Boy, who’s now learning the technique of swinging himself, but I was distracted by the realisation that the early crocuses have started to emerge already. It really has been the worst kind of winter: soggy, but mild, with virtually none of the crisp, cold days that lift my winter spirits.

Now that I’ve uploaded and processed my photos, I can see that not only is this clump of crocuses out and flowering, but it’s already being eaten by either slugs or snails. I’d better suggest to R that he should stop putting out hedgehog food, and leave the hogs to round up their own dinner. It’s too warm for them to be in hibernation, so they should really be earning their keep.
