It turned out seriously wet again. I think the garden’s had enough to drink now, thanks – can we please go back to it being August?

My joints are better than yesterday, which is something to be thankful for, even though I think it may be due to the virus revving itself up again and giving my immune system something else to think about. So swings and roundabouts, but I’ll take a bad throat and an irritating cough over swollen joints any day.

Because of the weather and feeling a bit mouldy, I only left the house twice: once to fill the bird feeders, and once to lean over the patio wall and photograph this helenium on the other side of it. I’ve done very little to this in post-processing other than to crop it – the colours really were this mad. I particularly like the tiny droplet falling from the main bloom.
