This is one of just four photos I took at Croome this morning, where R and I went for a walk because for once it wasn’t exactly raining. It did spit a bit, but not enough to trouble us.
At lunch time we went off to the Plough Inn at Ford, to meet up with R’s cousins and their families for lunch. We had a lovely time, but on arrival back at home I caught sight of my reflection in a window and realised that I was just about the same shape as this Chaffinch. The food at the Plough is excellent, but if you go for Sunday lunch I’d advise sticking to one course – or if you feel compelled to have two, follow the lead of the wisest member of our party, who chose two starters.
