Black, white, and grey, with red accents: I call that stylish. I’m especially charmed by the red-rimmed eyes – so very like my own.
We went for lunch and a long catch-up in Stratford today with R’s aunt and uncle, which was lovely. When they set off homewards, R and I went down to the river to walk off at least a little of our overindulgence, and I noticed that the adult black-headed gulls are already coming into their breeding plumage: for most of the year their heads are white, but as you can see, this one is transforming.
Another sign of spring!! I thought – at which point it began to hail, and we had to rush to the nearest café to take shelter. I could tell you that no cake was eaten, but you probably wouldn’t believe me, and your suspicion would be justified.
