Harsh

I spent a torrid half hour in the hide at Hillers this morning, where it was cold, and there were very few birds to be seen. Luckily I had the prospect of coffee and cake with R at the end of it, which kept me motivated, and about twenty seven minutes into the thirty I’d set as my limit for the day, this Robin showed up. Sadly for the bird there was almost no ground food out, and none at all on the bird table, so it left the scene unrewarded, which was pretty harsh.

Equally harsh was the shaft of light that suddenly appeared out of a previously flat sky and spot-lit the Robin’s crown – but you can’t have everything. And at least I got to dive into a plate of chocolate tiffin shortly afterwards, so it wasn’t me that went home hungry.
