Green

I still feel as though I’m running down an up escalator, while simultaneously juggling eggs and spinning plates, but en route to Warwick this afternoon I stopped for half an hour in Stratford, and walked down to the river to see if any Odonata had yet emerged from the Avon. All I found around the northern end of Lucy’s Mill Bridge were a single Large Red Damselfly and about twenty Banded Demoiselles – but we’re only just entering the second week of May, so I’m quite happy with that. One day next week I’ll walk down to Weir Brake Lock, to see if I can find any of the Scarce Chasers or White-legged Damselflies which must be due to emerge any time now, and which tend to colonise the south bank of the river.
