Camouflage

Everything is still looking very brown around here at the moment – except for the things that are grey. Or brown and grey. So if you’re a small grey and brown thing, and a human invades the orchard where you live, pointing a large Canon the size of a small canon at anything that breathes, it’s not a bad idea to take a flying leap onto the nearest inanimate brown and grey thing, in the hope of not being noticed. And if you’re at all worried that you may have managed to silhouette yourself against the dark hedge in the background, just keep very still in the hope that she’ll think you’re a gall or something, and wait till she loses interest and goes away.

Apologies for posting yet another squirrel – I know that not everyone is as amused by them as I am – but there wasn’t much else around today. And frankly I’m not surprised – even here, quite a long way from the eye of Storm Eleanor, it was blowing a gale, and perishing cold. I did get a couple of shots of a distant fieldfare, and one of a song thrush, but R has picked this as his favourite of the day’s photos.

The best thing that happened to me today was discovering that the Welsh filter makers Formatt-Hitech have a sale going on on some of their ranges, which together with a voucher code discount allowed me to pick up an 8-stop ND filter for about £45 less than I’d been expecting to pay for it. If you’re in the market for any of their products, the voucher discount ends on Sunday. One word of caution though, if you haven’t used their site before: the posted prices don’t include VAT.
