Poseuse

I can’t help having a suspicion that this is the same female White-legged Damselfly as I photographed a couple of days ago, posing on a buttercup. This isn’t as mad as it sounds, because there are only a handful of these damsels out at Cleeve Prior Community Orchard at the moment, and most of them make for the trees as soon as they catch sight of me. But Monday’s allowed me to kneel down right next to her in the grass, and today’s did too, so… who knows?

In other news, this afternoon I finally managed some very poor, distant record shots of one of the elusive hawkers over the Mound Pond, and they were just good enough to confirm that it’s a Hairy Dragonfly. This wasn’t my first Hairy of the season, but I’m hoping that it will turn out to be a first record for this site.
