The Ballet Mistress had always told her that she had the legs of a penguin and the feet of a duck, and finding herself unexpectedly elevated from the Corps de Ballet to play the Black Swan, Eunice was feeling the pressure as the moment for the infamous thirty two fouetté turns approached. 

Perhaps, she thought, they’d have been better calling on Sharon Wehner – though it had to be said that she appeared to have had the advantage of performing on dry land.
